The first pair crafted. 

A symbol of time. 

A relic of history.

Ties that once fastened around the neck of my late grandfathers groggy throat.

I couldn’t bare to store them away 

Collecting dust. 

So in a midst of a creative outburst…

I reinvented them. 

In memory. 

Glue stuck to the tips of my fingers.// Later picking away the excess in a satisfying daze.

Thread collected on my lap

A trail marking where I’ve last been.

Which was the lanai of my grandmothers florida home.

Butt numbing in the paint splattered chair.

Resting on the clay stained glass table beside me, my third coffee turned cold.

Lost in the art of creating-

This natural and prime flow state is unlike any other. When your bones, breath and soul feel a pang of rightness.

When finished, placing them in hands worn and worked to the bone,  the ink print of an artist. My grandmother too made such exquisite earrings, selling them all over the world.

I look up to her.

She looks back at me with pride.

Fascinated at how I created this first pair.

In that moment I knew... 

“This is special…I can really make something of this”

I would hear on eternal loop when wearing my secret creation out 

Strangers of all types and ages would comment at the complexity of my creation 

They saw me. They saw my art.

And for them I thank as it gave me that final push of confidence to keep going and solidify this idea into a business. That anyone who liked them could simply own them. So i made that possible.
